Donald Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, gives his latest speech, attacking Afro-Americans widely considered to be supporters of his rival Democrat presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.
In his speech, Donald Trump alleges that African Americans have suffered under the leadership of the Democrats, especially under Hillary Clinton.
”No group has been pained by the fallacies of Hillary Clinton than African Americans, who continue to suffer.”To those I say, what do you have to lose by trying something new like Trump? What do you have to loose”.I say it again: what the hell do you have to loose.”
Trump alleges that African-Americans are living in poverty, they have no jobs, their schools are not good, and 58 percent of their youths are unemployed. After that, he goes ahead to say that after the end of four years, he will get 95 percent of the Afro-American votes.
Donald trump’s speech offended Afro-Americans in some ways:
- First, he despised African Americans by alleging that all of the are completely poor. A totally reckless statement.
- Secondly, Trump alleged that Afro-Americans study in bad schools, suggesting that they have no resources to take their children to the right schools and that they are not bright enough to be admitted to the good schools.
- Third, Trump alleges that majority of Afro-American youths are unemployed and that the Democrats were aiming at giving jobs to immigrants, making African-Americans be refugees in their countries. This demeaned African-Americans by suggesting that they are outcasts or refugees in their own country.
By asking the question: What do you have to lose? Trump suggests African-Americans have nothing, and therefore have nothing to lose in their vote for a Presidential candidate. Someone with nothing to lose has nothing for himself/herself.
Lastly, Donald Trump apologized indirectly, saying that in a heated debate you don’t always choose the right words to use. He said that he did not want to say: “What the hell do you have to lose?” and corrected that to “What do you have to lose by trying something new?”. He added:”You may not believe it, but I am sorry.”
This is the point: if you claim to be sorry, then you probably did something wrong. So, Donald Trump admits that he wronged Afro-Americans by demonizing and demeaning them.
In her response, the Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton twitted:
”This is soo ignorant, its staggering.”
Hillary Clinton quoted the following about Trump:
”Donald Trump’s ideas aren’t just different, they are dangerously incoherent. They’re not even really ideas, just a series of bizarre rants, personal feuds, and outright lies.”
Donald Trump continues to show his ignorance through his hate speech that targets Muslims, migrants, and Afro-Americans.
